Converting 24-bit FLAC to 24-bit AIFF

will also convert 24bit FLAC directly to Apple Lossless, which is nifty... noly the newest version of the ALAC codec can do it.. just released like October or something.

Any major sound editor will also be able to convert flac to aiff or in some cases you need to decompress first to wav then convert. Audacity will do the conversion and it is freeware.

Thanks for all those - the only one I've tried 24-bit activities with is Audacity, and that seemed to want to output everything in 16-bit...... see a previous thread of mine for the details.

You need to specifically specify the output in the preferences under the uncompressed export format. Even though the option when doing so will say export as wav it will export it as aiff if the option is set as such and also as 8/16/24/32 bit depending on how you set it. You may have to use other to get signed 24 bit but it is definatelty an option in that list for aiff.

Options for you:

1. Foobar 2000. It only has Windows version.

2. Audacity is also a nice choice to do the job.

3. Or download this 32 bit audio converter, set the output format and click "Settings..." > "Advanced" > "Audio Codec", and here choose "pcm_s16le" or "pcm_s24le" or "pcm_s32le".
