burning .avi on mac

I use dvd imager to burn dvds so I do not have Toast... I have a few .avi files that I want to burn without degrading to mpeg in VLC or whatever.
so I am looking for a way to burn these as cleanly as I can. they are each a stand alone file not a set of .avi files.

I can barley tell if I am makes sense...Basically I want to burn an .avi to disc on a mac without losing quality....suggestions?
thanks for looking.

Re: burning .avi on mac

do you want to play it back on a standard DVD player ?
if so, here is one way to do it

if you just want to burn .avi for computer use..etc... its a standard data dvd burn.
