Re: Is there an explicit ratio policy here?

You know, I wouldn't worry about it. The reason we have the TTD Trader tag is to show when people are sharing on this site in other ways beside ratio. I know that I have never been crazy about ratio enforcement simply because in order for a site like this to survive, you need more than just people keeping a good ratio. You need the tapers, the authors, the traders, the uploaders, the seeders, and even the leechers. It's a whole cycle, it isn't all just about ratio.

Keep on sharing, Bill. I think you do a good job of it and I think it is very much appreciated.

Re: Is there an explicit ratio policy here?

I'm not fucked at all. There are no ratio standards anyway. I just don't enjoy schmucks who don't contribute even one item of content dissing my lame ass ratio. I still have over 700 hrs of very cool video to share, as well a ton of money to donate here. So all is well. Don't donate to my ratio, but don't expect me to stop donating what I have very generously! This place is great...

Re: Is there an explicit ratio policy here?

I started off here with a huge hole as I joined in order to get the Beatles' A/B Road.

I was in something like 15gig of debt 6 weeks or so ago, but Frank Sinatra has put me back on track.

It really isn't that hugely hard even if you get yourself into a bit of a jam. You just have to actually devote yourself to doing it and not just whinge about not being able to do it, as many often do.

There is a part for them to play!

The post whores and trolls are there to amuse us at work, and those who bullshit on lineage either give us stuff we otherwise wouldn't see, or they emphasise just how important it really is to get it right by showing us what it sounds like to get it wrong.

Everyone has their place in the cycle of life. Now we can all hold hands, and no giggling at the back there.

vlad, if your ratio has stayed at .26 for the last year, that means that you have kept a .26 on all your torrents for the last year. If you were sharing at 1.0 for the last year, your ratio would be going up, not staying the same.

Wouldn't it mean he's been sharing at exactly 1:1? That is, his downloaded amount & his uploaded amount have remained exactly proportional?

uploaded / downloaded = ratio?

In order for his ratio to rise, wouldn't he actually have to seed beyond a 1.0 ratio for a particular torrent, with the excess beyond 1.0 increasing his ratio? Of course, provided he wasn't downloading to counteract the increase.

No.

26/100 (starting ratio) + 30/100 (subsequent seeding) = .28 ratio. That is, if you seed at a ratio higher than your current ratio, your ratio will rise.

Re: Is there an explicit ratio policy here?

OK, I get it. Gonna take a lot of heavy seeding w/o downloading to bring that up tho, given the size (271GB vs. 1TB).

Good luck vlad! I'd say the DVD seeding might really help due to the size.

Yes, he only needs to upload 162 DVD's at 4.5 gig per DVD to catch up. Or, more likely, he'll upload more than just the 4.5 gig per DVD so the 162 is an absolute maximum.

Hell, I've uploaded 8 gig on just some of my puny aud shows so I know it's very possible.

Help what? There are no ratio standards here. I seed to share the good things I have, not to increase my ratio. I don't have a problem with my ratio - I have a problem with people who have a problem with my ratio and yet, have never seeded a single torrent to enrich the library of content here.
The beauty of this site is how so many people with different tastes in music share, and offer so much variety. When newcomers visit they think "Wow, look at all the great things that are here." not "Wow look at all the great ratios!".

Catch up to what dc? (Can I call you dc?). I thought there were no ratio standards here. What I'm trying to catch up to is digitizing my videotape before the oxides on the tape surface go to hell. Wish me luck! I'm doing my best!

Catch up to a 1:1 ratio. If you want. I offered no judgment, only facts.

do you grow eggplants? Did you know that the ratio of the skinniest and fattest parts of an eggplant is about 2:1?
