Torrenting ?

Have used BT for years but have always wondered:-
Say I post a 1 GB show and 10 people grab it, with 5 completing very quickly and 5 trying to complete. The 5 who have completed - would I have to seed 5 GB (if they finish @ the same time) or would they be grabbing the same amount of MB in equal portions to make 1 GB.

I think I've explained this question correctly !!! Am I making sense ?

Re: Torrenting ?

I think you would end up seeding more than 1 GB but much less than 5 and likely less than 2 GB

Re: Torrenting ?

If your BT-client has the option super(or initial)-seeding you should use that option. Super(initial)-seeding is a feature of some BT-clients that attempts to minimize the amount of data which must be uploaded by the original seed until the first completion of a downloading peer.

Re: Torrenting ?

The data you are seeding to each of the 10 is in turn being seeded by the 10 among themselves. So you aren't seeding a complete copy to each of the quicker 5. You usually end up seeding just a bit more than 1 complete copy before someone completes.

If you use superseeding, you'll seed just 1 complete copy when someone completes.
