What can I use to check for mp3 files that have been changed to wav on a mac?

I used to use Traders Little Helper on PC for this.

Re: mp3 to wav??

TLH uses aucdtect, which is by no means a reliable tool. Use Audacity and look at spectral/frequency analyses. There are plenty of examples in this forum to compare results with - and people are willing to look and give their opinion on posted screenshots.

Re: mp3 to wav??

to expound a bit, use Audacity like they said [i prefer v1.2.6a...1.3beta was a bit buggy imo]

for a Frequency Analysis [FA]:
select all portion of the track [preferably from the middle of the song with all instruments playing]
click Analyze > Plot Spectrum -- the FA window will pop up
i use the following settings -- Spectrum / Hanning window / 4096 / Linear frequency

for Spectral Analysis [SA]:
first set yer SA preferences...Audacity > Preferences > Spectograms tab > select Maximum Frequency of at least 20,000 Hz [i use 24,000 typically] and an FFT size of 1024

its good to analyze SA two ways -- using a 2 sec section of music, and a larger of sample [~20 secs]
zoom in to yer section, click the drop down displaying the track's name [to the left of the waveform, above the sample rate and bit depth] > Spectrum
te waveform will switch to SA view

I'm also looking for something like EAC, but I don't think there is anything like that for mac.

^^^
If you do a bit of googling, you should be able to find a GUI for cdparanoia.
