SoundSoap Pro - Opinions?
Title says it all. Just wondering if anybody has used this for noise reduction on 1960s-70s AUD recordings, which would be my interest (personal use only

Re: SoundSoap Pro - Opinions?
I tried this out a year or two ago... I wasn't impressed. Their prices aren't exactly economical, either. $600? pfft. The stock plugins in CEP/Audition are really excellent, so that has a lot to do with my opinion.

Re: SoundSoap Pro - Opinions?
Thanks Five. SoundSoap Pro is definitely a pricey setup. I guess I should have mentioned I use a Mac so Audition, unfortunately, is not a way I can go. The nr plugins for Amadeus and Audacity are nor particularly useful and tend to leave artifacts. I was hoping SS might be a bit more sophisticated.

Re: SoundSoap Pro - Opinions?
you're welcome.
even Audition leaves artifacts if not used very, very carefully. nr has come a long way but unfortunately there's no magic bullet when it comes to this technology. my best advice is to pick up a used pc somewhere, for around $1,000 you could get an operable pc setup with soundcard and Audition. With pc you also get access to hundreds of freeware (and often free software) VST plugins that aren't available to mac users. It seems almost every mac user I know has a pc hidden somewhere in their house, they really come in handy from time to time and you can still use your mac for the majority of things.

Re: SoundSoap Pro - Opinions?
Thanks again. Yes, the pc solution is the one I'm going to have to seriously think about. It will likely solve a bunch of issues.

![]() ![]() BigTyke...if yer willing to drop that much $ on SSP, i'd personally go ahead and spend a few more bucks and get Logic...i've never used SSP, but from what i've heard, Logic is a far superior product [extremely "deep" tho]...and the amount of VST plugs is pretty large, and most are "pro" level. other options would be ProTools LE maybe, or even Cubase...Logic would be my vote given its level of pro features... i'm guessing you know this already, but for anyone else reading the thread--use NR sparingly...thats always one of those extremely "fine-line" filters that goes from good to nightmare real quick. Re: SoundSoap Pro - Opinions?
another solution would be a good rack mounted NR filter...these are almost always superior to their VST counterparts...for what its worth

Re: SoundSoap Pro - Opinions?
Logic is a smart route Tyke...and yes, you'll be holed up for a while exploring this one--i'd go ahead and terminate any and all relationships, quit yer job, and don't plan on leaving the house for a year or so
![]() good luck...if you get stuck, PM me...i'm not very knowlegable personally [i use Live], but have a friend who's used the program in his rec studio for a while...i can always get in touch with him if ya need No members have liked this post.
