I'm quite new here, and I was wondering if you guys could take a look at this.

Thanks!

Just a guess here. Please consider my lack of knowledge when reading this :p

I'm guessing (and it's ONLY a guess) it's MD, based on the FA - it still has a signal at the higher frequencies. I "thought" .mp3 had a definite cut-off at a certain frequency (not sure exactly where though).

Those little spikes in the SA - I'm guessing are due to noise on the tape.

Let's see when the real experts come around, what it really is ;)

Thanks for your reply. I received this disc in a postal trade without any lineage. I looked it up at db.etree.org (http://db.etree.org/lookup_show.php?shows_key=66056&show_users=true), but that didn't really help. One person says it's from a DAT-source.

You're welcome, but like I said - it's only a guess. Please wait for someone knowledgable to give you a definitive answer.

I'm as just eager as you are, to see what it is. I'm trying to learn more about SA and FA analysis.

I would think a DAT would incluce all frequencies, and not cut off, as shown in your samples. (another guess :p)

You may want to take another go at the Frequency shot , as it doesnt match the Spectral. :hmm:

yeah, move the cursor around a little before taking a screencap of the FA, this is a small bug in CEP.

This is for sure not a DAT. It is lossy. A 32kHz DAT is similar, but without the blocks and the haircut would be less straight. Since its from 1993 I wonder if it is an MD. MDs were quite rare at that time. The FA looks somewhat like MD but it cuts off at 16kHz.

I'm curious what others have to say.

naaah, blatant (and known) mp3 source. and by that I mean "try decoding your mp3s of that to wav and compare, chances are that the spectrum will be identical". too many rubbish versions of this show out there, I know I've been out hunting for a clean one like forever.

for reference and great teasing, here's a spectrum of the same range on the "original" source (clean DAT SBD, which was difficult as fuck to track down, I might add)

uhuhu guess I need to hurry the fuck up and finally seed this.. :hmm: :wtf:

You're damn right you should seed this ;)!

I know a lot of Live-material is MP3'd, it quite sucks in my opinion, cause they're such a great band.

Thanks for all the replies, I think we are sure that this one's MP3-sourced, comparing ssamadhi97 screenshot with mine.

I would love to see some +Live+ on here! They were my first real concert (ignoring that Michael Bolton one on the fourth of July with my parents when I was in 5th grade), and I have never been able to find any lossless stuff of theirs. I love these guys, and still listen to their studio CDs all the time.
