CD/DVD Labeling Software

Can anyone recommend a freeware to download? Need something quick and easy for a project I'm working on for a friend. Thanks.

Re: CD/DVD Labeling Software

What kind of label are you trying to make?

If your DVD burner is LightScribe capable (and you've got the right kind of media), you can get the freeware basic disc labeling utility here: http://www.lightscribe.com/

If you've got those stickers you put on the discs, the manufacturer of your stickers should have templates for you (for instance, this page has templates for Neato stickers). I hope if you've got the stickers you didn't buy the Memorex ones--their templates are useless--the printer ended up printing oval shapes as I recall.

And if you've got inkjet printable discs and your printer can handle CDs, I'd like to think your printer manufacturer would offer a freeware utility to print to them.

The huge B&P offer I've been hinting at for a while is finally here!

Re: CD/DVD Labeling Software

Thanks for the info. It's been while since I've done this. Had one on my old PC but it's long gone. I've always bought the Neato stuff but haven't gotten that far yet as I want to make sure I have the software first. I don't think Lightscribe is going to work ...... I need to make inserts also. Sorry for not being more specific. Any other thoughts?

Yeah, I personally don't use labels on my discs. Any more all I do is write the data disc number or the artist/date on the inner hub of the disc (i.e. an area where you don't have to worry about potential damage from the ink).

I've been wanting to test out LightScribe now that I've got a burner capable of doing it.

As for the jewelcase inserts--what kind of programs do you have on your computer? Do you have Photoshop? I know it has the ability to let you pick out how big an image will print. If not, you should be able to paste your cover image into Word and resize the image.

The following dimensions should be a big help:
4.73" x 4.73" Simple Front Cover
9.47" x 4.73" Gatefold Front Cover
5.92" x 4.63" Back Cover

Indeed. Labels ruined about 800 of my audio disks. They look real good but won't play without skipping.
