Trouble reading a DVD
Ok. Just recieved a DVD from a friend of mine.
It plays perfectly well in my stand-alone player. But it unreadable in my computer. The XP error message says Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows ISObuster says there is only a session/track layout, no file system or files. Though it does show the track as being 4.38 GB. Is there a way I can pull the VOBs and such from this disc?

Re: Trouble reading a DVD
Thanks, but no joy.
It returns an error on every sector of the disc when it tries to decrypt it.

It can't even read the disc and keeps asking me to insert a disc.

Re: Trouble reading a DVD
Use ISO Puzzle. Read this: Recover Data From a Bad Disc
FYI, I think that PowerDVD comment was left by a spammer. It was a stupid suggestion.

Re: Trouble reading a DVD
I'm starting to think there is nothing wrong with the disc.
I think it is more a problem that it was burnt with some kind of goofie burning system. As I said. It plays perfectly fine in my stand alone. But there is no file system on it for windows to read. I think I am just going to get a new copy from a different trader. It's not a rare show or anything like that. And I know several people who have it. Just thought I would check and see if it might be something simple to salvage the disc I have.

Re: Trouble reading a DVD
It might be UDF only, without the ISO bridged to it. Windows doesn't always like UDF-only media.

Re: Trouble reading a DVD
I agree - it might be a drive going bad or a simple case of that particular drive not liking that disk. Try a drive in another computer.
