Unhappy Sync problem while combining sources. Please help!

So... i have an audience source ànd a soundboard source for a recent Girls Against Boys show in Belgium. The AUD part was recorded on my Sony portable MD, the SBD part on a Sony MD-deck hooked up to the soundboard. I've transfered both to my pc using the line in on my soundcard and real time recording through Sound Forge. I've listened to both and found no glitches of any kind.

I've tried to combine the two sources, but i can't get them in sync properly: i am able to start the mix ok, but further on in the mix, the two sources get more and more out of sync.

The question here is: could the two recorders somehow have a different speed, leaving me with two recordings with different lenghts?

Any help is apreciated and will lead to a matrix seed here on the traders den!

thanx...

to answer, YES...

making a "matrix" is extremely tedious and time consuming...you'll want to pick one or the other and leave it whole...the other you will have to split [preferrably during applause/between tracks] and then resynch each song together...

you can also use time stretch, but this is very difficult and alot of times creates undesirable results.

don't forget to pitch correct if you time stretch
