MPEG - 2 and Digital Cameras
I just had a torrent pulled for being derived from a digital camera.
The camera has 3 video settings. -Fine (as good as practically any DVD seeded here, eg. Tool - Oklahoma 2002), -Standard (which I used and it got pulled) and an even lesser quality. My question is, if I shoot in FINE, will it be allowed, or is it still considered a digital camera, even though it's meant for video? Thanks No members have liked this post.

Re: MPEG - 2 and Digital Cameras
Even on the fine setting it might look good to your eye but it is still a compressed, non-standard format. You may say that it looks as good as a DVD but it is not DVD format. You have to turn it into MPEG-2 to make a DVD, which is re-compressing the video.

You must have thought it was a lossy file, like avi. It's not. No members have liked this post.

Re: MPEG - 2 and Digital Cameras
please post the camera model so I can look it up.
typically something that encodes on the fly is always lesser quality then done in post. most cameras record to mpeg4 and is substandard for here. additionally, if it records to mpeg2 care has to be taken during the authoring to not double encode the material. we do discourage camera videos because they are not typically of the standards we require at this site. these specs don't jive with your stated resolutions. and are unacceptable. http://reviews.digitaltrends.com/rev...0-review-specs Video Resolutions 320 x 240 (QVGA) • 640 x 480 (VGA) No members have liked this post.

Re: MPEG - 2 and Digital Cameras
I was just going by the file I copied off the memory stick, and what g-spot said.
I suppose an extra encoding could have taken place, but you answered my question. Even in fine, it's not good enough to post here. No members have liked this post.

Re: MPEG - 2 and Digital Cameras
Try dime. Should be ok there. We are trying to have really high standards here and staff has decided to draw a line. Doesn't mean it's not a great video. Just doesn't meet the standards here.
