Failed hashchecks?

I uploaded a torrent a couple days ago (this Evanescence one) following the TTD guide for uploading video torrents and everything seemed to go fine and it was all working the way it should. Now I have a bunch of peers stuck at 99.9% with failed hash checks so it can't finish. Being the complete n00b I am to this, I have no clue what that even means, or how to fix it. I'm not firewalled so I don't think that's the issue. I also ran the .md5 and it said everything verified with no errors (the torrent has a VIDEO_TS folder with the DVD files and a EXTRAS_TS folder with the info.txt and .md5 files there - could this have anything to do with it?).

Do any of you know what could be causing this, or how to remedy the situation? I want everyone to be able to finish their download asap!!

Re: Failed hashchecks?

Do you happen to have any of the files 'open' on your computer? Like the text file in your text editor or one of the vob files?

Re: Failed hashchecks?

I saw you just stopped/started the torrent again and it went to 100%.... perhaps ask in the thread which file(s) are not being completed. That will give us a better clue of what happened. Did you open the video in a video player at all? Did you take snapshots when it was opened? (I know those are weird questions, but that caused a weird problem on another torrent cuz sometimes the video player keeps a file 'open' (kinda sorta) even though it is closed.)

Nope, I didn't touch anything

I got a PM saying it looked to be everything from the md5 up to the vts_01_0.vob file, all the little files. He said that the big .vobs are complete,

It seems like when someone gets to 100%, it tries the hashcheck and fails, so it knocks the download back down to like 99.8% or 99.9%

Re: Failed hashchecks?

There seems to be nothing wrong with the files themselves, as the md5 checks out. If I was to remake the .torrent and reupload it, do you think that would work? (Sorry about the double post, I can't edit the other one anymore)

Re: Failed hashchecks?

This is very strange. I think what I would do is this:

- stop the torrent you are seeding.
- Make sure none of the files are open (if you did open them in a video player, then I may restart the computer)
- Make a new torrent
- Make a new thread and attach the new torrent (no need to mark the new torrent as a reseed)
- Start your new torrent and make sure you get listed as a seed
- Hit the Report this Post on the old torrent and we will close the thread and put a link to the new thread

Hopefully that fixes the problem.

Re: Failed hashchecks?

i keep getting this error in the heart pullman torrent

'error (date time)
Piece 999 failed hash check, redownloading'

over and over, consequently ive downloaded 10 gig to get about 1600 mb.

does this mean one of the seeders isnt sending properly or has bad data ?

or is it me? my other two torrents are downloading fine.

its killing my ratio

Have you posted in the thread to see if anyone else is having the same problem?
