internet connection dropping on its own.
heres the deal. two days ago i connected my computer and another up thru a linksys befsr41 router.
i created a static ip and configured azureus fine, showing up connectable. only problem i see tho, is i leave my computer on 24/7, and overnight apparantly, my connection is dropping. i leave azureus on overnight, and when i wake up there is an icon in the iconbar-thingy near the clock saying "a network connection has been unplugged" or the likes. i've checked the physical connection both times, and nothing was unplugged. the router showed the status as working. if i unplug the connection from my computer and plug it back it, all is fine. what i'm wondering is why is this happening? could the router be disabling my connection once it reaches a certain ammount of traffic up/down? making it very difficult to get much done overnight, because it appears to be happening only 3-4 hours after i start azureus. before the router, my computer was plug directly into the modem, this never happened.

Re: internet connection dropping on its own.
I was having this exact same problem with a Linksys 802.11b router (BEFSW11 or something like that). There is apparently a problem with the most current version of the firmware (at least for my router model) that causes the connection to be lost when too much data is flowing (I was losing it overnight with BT and also when trying to watch streaming video). I contacted linksys and they sent me an older firmware version and everything is okay now. I would recommend looking into this.

Re: internet connection dropping on its own.
From time to time I would have spells of this, I also have a Linksys 802.11b router (BEFW11S4 V.2) but my firmware is old (1.42.7, Apr 03 2002). My isp is Adelphia cable and the modem is a WebSTAR DPC2100. The last time this happened was about 2 weeks ago and I thought it could be heat related so I put a fan on the modem and so far so good.

Re: internet connection dropping on its own.
thanks for replys all.
i'm using the default firmware, right out of the box. i may try whatever the newest stable is, as i dont think older firmware is an option for me? diggard, i cant imagine its heat related for me, but suppose cant hurt to try a fan for a night... toto, wish that was an option for me. routers have been nothing but a mess for me.

Re: internet connection dropping on its own.
so i gave up trying to get a working firmware after trying linksys tech support for over 2 hours. would be nice if they had someone who understood the langauge.
i'm returning my linksys router and buying a new one, as i've had nothing but problems with them so far. can anyone reccomend a good & simple (out of the box maybe this time maybe?) wired router? d-link or netgear?

Re: internet connection dropping on its own.
Is it a wireless signal? I had the same problem with my computer on a Linksys Wireless G and it stopped when I just wired the router to the PC.
Other then that, i'm no help.

Re: internet connection dropping on its own.
no, both my linksys routers were wired. never messed around with wireless.
i may just try another company, netgear or d-link from bestbuy, as they seem to be lenient when it comes to returning opened stuff. figure one of em has gotta work sooner or later. Quote:

Re: internet connection dropping on its own.
Not sure this will help, but have you tried putting a limit on your upload/download on Azureus and seeing if the problem persists?

Re: internet connection dropping on its own.
first night it ran at about 200 something down 40 up. disconnected
next night i only ran one torrent, at about 40 down 40 up. disconnected. i havent actualy capped the download, but i've tried both high traffic and low, which makes me beleive it is disconnecting after a certain ammount rather than speed.
