Unhappy Comcast, Uploads, and I'm Screwed...

Man, I can't believe this. After years of watching Bit Torrent sites and only being able to download stuff at work (which was highly frowned upon), I finally got rid of dial-up. I was so happy the day the Comcast people hooked me up and I got my wireless up and running.

After all my initial set-up, I signed up here and at DAD. It hasn't taken me long to figure out somethings wrong. My share ratio is in the toilet even though I stay on for hours and hours. It seems nobody can "see" me once I finnish the d/l. I assumed it was my firewall/router, but I checked with one of the programs linked here and the site can "see" me just fine.

After some searching here, I found my issue...of course it's Comcast. I've read many threads and think they are stopping my uploads all together. Wtf is that all about? I see that there has been much debate and lawsuits, etc, with no resolution for us. What can I do? Comcast is the only game in town here so I have no options.

I've searched both "Comcast" and "Sandvine", but no solution comes to me.

So put me in the "Loser/A-hole Share Ratio Thread" because I don't know what to do.

HELP ME!!!
Dan

Re: Comcast, Uploads, and I'm Screwed...

there is a sandvine workaround in this thread:
http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...ad.php?t=45154
it seems to help some people

some additional things to do which help a lot (the first two are essential IMO):
-use a BT client with encryption, like uTorrent (best IMO) and force encryption, or Azureus (use R4 encryption)
-use a port for BT between about 45,000 - 60,000
-limit your download speed on torrents to the same rate that you can upload, so when you complete your download, you will have uploaded the same amount that you have downloaded. Then, when your ISP cuts off your uploading after completion, you still have a 1.00 ratio (or close to it) This is kind of a last resort method, as you will have to wait longer to listen to a show you really want to hear, etc.

Re: Comcast, Uploads, and I'm Screwed...

In my country I have an ISP who does limits file sharing as Comcast does.
Many users can pass the filters using Deluge or the latest beta builds from utorrent. You can at least try them.
You must turn on encryption.

Re: Comcast, Uploads, and I'm Screwed...

I think one of the easiest solutions is to limit (cap) your download speed to the same that your upload speed is. That way you are downloading only as much as you are uploading and by the time your finish downloading, you should have a 1:1 ratio.
