DVD won't mount? Help?
I just got a couple of DVDs in a vine, but they won't mount on my desktop. I'm using OS 10.3.9. I've tried opening DVD player and Toast before I insert the disc, but the drive keeps spitting it back out.
I know my drive can handle both + and - R, so I don't think that's the problem. Everyone else on the vine hasn't had any problems as far as I know. I tried posting on the thread, but no one has replied yet and I'd like to turn this around as fast as possible. If anyone can shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Graham No members have liked this post.

Re: DVD won't mount? Help?
It should be a data disc but I'm not sure because I can't see what's inside. I'm going to try and repair permissions/run Cocktail and see if that helps...
The discs are Sony DVD+Rs 1x-8x. No members have liked this post.

Re: DVD won't mount? Help?
So, you can see a VIDEO_TS folder but you can't see the contents inside? I've received discs like that before. It has something to do with pointers and ISO9600 and Macs and PCs, but don't ask me to explain it!
I think I had to use Disc Utility to make a Disc Image and then I burned it using Disc Utility also. That made me a copy of the disc, but it still doesn't get me to 'see' the contents.

Re: DVD won't mount? Help?
No, the disc gets ejected every time, it won't stay in the computer.

Re: DVD won't mount? Help?
That is really weird. I don't think I've ever had that happen even before I wasn't able to read DVD+Rs (pre 10.3, or was it pre 10.2?).
What you might want to do is ask the next person on the Vine if you can just send a blank and they can copy it for you. Either that, or find a friend with a DVD burner and see if their computer can read the disc for you.

Re: DVD won't mount? Help?
It works on my other Mac, so I'll just use it on there. It is wierd though.

Re: DVD won't mount? Help?
i've had that issue on my G4 a few times, but all i had to do was open Toast BEFORE mounting the disc, and then i could access the disc in a Finder window...if Toast wasn't open, it would give me some Error message and spit the disc out.
but since you tried that already...i'm stumped i'll try talking to my "Mac Tech Support", maybe he'll have an answer for us No members have liked this post.
