ISP questions

At my home I have Comcast which by the way is NOT Comcastic. I can only upload at 45 kbs tops

I am visiting a friend who has Verizon DSL and is firewalled. I am uploading at an average of 90KBS!!

What are your average upload speeds and who is your provider?

Re: ISP questions

AT&T (previously SBCglobal).

We get 52 kbs upload tops. We could upgrade and get double that for an extra $25 a month.

But your d/l is probably not going to be much more than that. Also keep in mind that with DSL your speeds get slower as you get further away from the servers!

I have the Comcast Gold package and I get 8mb down (1000k) & 768kb up (96k)....

....its all about the bits & bytes

Re: ISP questions

the upgrade to the higher bandwidth for comcast is only $10 more a month. all you have to do is call the customer service and they can upgrade you to the higher speeds. all it takes is a modem reset after they've updated it in the computer system.

Re: ISP questions

42 kB/s up and I have literally seen 500 down when I'm late arriving to a big swarm.

We have Road Runner through Time Warner. It's about $40/month -- not sure because our digital cable is with them too and we just get one bill a month for $120 and I can't remember how much is cable and how much is internet.

Re: ISP questions

On Basic Comcast I upload at a constant 45 kbs (when there are leechers)

Download speeds can get as high as 400 kbs if i'm the only leeche

but if i'm in the middle of a swarm with only a couple seeds speeds download speeds can average 25 to 50 kbs
