If it comes to smashing pumpkins, who I heard over and over again, I don't just hear the difference, I can feel the difference. mp3 just won't give me the creeps.
Mp3 algorithm is 15 years old, designed to fit on a (S)VCD besides a compressed video, why should I use it on a daily basis?

Re: Can the ear tell the difference?

My ears can't tell the difference if it's encoded with a high bitrate.

Judging by all the other sites, Mp3's are still in high demand from ppl. I was just on a torrent site a few minutes ago and I saw someone say they got a show from another site and encoded it in mp3. No one seemed to mind in the thread.

I also should add that my hearing loss is safe in the mp3 frequency. I can't hear the highs anyway.

1. I think this could be due to a record industry, that jumped on the mp3 train years too late, that keeps the mp3 artificially alive.
2. The most disturbing in mp3s for me are the artifacts introduced. Do you hear these sometimes?
