MD or lossy ?

this one were recorded in 1991 but i have no informations about the gear...
i'm thinking about a MD recording but i don't understand why the 10kHz doesn't exist... any idea?

first off understand that md is also lossy

but there was no md in 1991

it looks like mp3 or something similar but there is noise at the top which wouldn't normally be there with an mp3.

so I'm thinking it was eq'ed to death... maybe this theory could explain the gap at 10kHz

if you could post a 30 second flac sample to sendspace / rapidshare or whatever and post the link here I'd be curious to hear it.

the sound is very distant... maybe a dictaphone record... but it doesn't explain the gap...

My guess is lossy and not DAT as well.
