I have no comment on most of this stuff. I don't know enough about how this works to have a valid opinion. In fact, I'm reading this extremely long thread as a means of understanding the community a little better. But one thing....

No argument, you are within TTDs rules. so no complaint. but, your attitude
if sincere plain puzzles me. I don't pretend to know anything, but I don't think there is any golden goose out there, just a community of sharers. If people
don't give what they get in the long run, pretty soon there is no site. So whether your ratio is technically considered abuse or not, I don't see the point.

..anyway this long discussion is very helpful to me. Hope I'm not presumptuous to chime in.

I have a bad ratio, but I leave all my shows seeding. I don't throttle the upload speed either.

Maybe I just download stuff that nobody else wants.

Ok, still don't understand how to improve my seeding on utorrent. I'm with Rogers cable in Canada, love this forum and the program in general, but keep crashing my connection. I'm running an admittedly crappy Linksys WRT-55AG router. I've updated the firmware to the latest edition and it is working better, but if I leave it on overnight, it's always dead by morning. Can't unplug as the wireless setup needs to be active for the rest of the family. I don't have the time or patience to read up on this, sorry, not an ubergeek by any means, just want to do my part. Suggestionz?

Maybe you download "more" than your share of stuff nobody wants....that's why your upload/download ratio are so far apart.

It may be too many peers per torrent for your router to handle that's causing your connection to drop. Try reducing the max number of peers per torrent. In uTorrent go to Preferences (the big gear icon, or in options), then BitTorrent, then maximum number of connected peers per torrent (reduce this to 30 or 20).

Mother of God - who lets this go on? I am a member of another torrent site and if your ratio falls below 0.25 they suspend you until you upload or seed to a 0.25 ratio. Fall below it again and I think they ban you.

hi all, me again, i hope i dont get added to the leech section. just finished dl the bergen 08 show and am now seeding. my upload aint the the best but i will seed as long as i can. seems that 4 peers are still on it so hopefully ill gain some back over the next couple of days

I honstly dont understand whats so hard to upload the same amount that you have downloaded. My max. upload speed is only 1/6 of my max. download speed and I still manage to keep a decent ratio. I'v seen people with upload speeds way higher than my download speed and they had a shitty ratio, and never upload anything themselves. I fucking hate them all...

so what your trying to say is people who have dl more than they uploaded you f ing hate them all, well thats a little harsh, you dont even no me for instance. seems your attutude is a little off and bang out of order

my upload speed aint the best but im still seeding, well i would be if any1 would dl to the torrent im connected to. seems by the time i get a chance to seed anything every1 has dl it already.

well, if you take it that personally then it will be. If you still havent figured how to upload then it's your own fault. Ever tried uploading something yourself? That usually helps increasing your ratio instead of waiting for people to jump on old torrents... and as for your ratio, guess it's ok considering the amount. I was actually refering to people who download 500+gb and only uploaded say 50gb while their bandwidth should be able to upload lost in a short time. it all depends on how many torrents you upload yourself...

edit: and yes, I know how it's like to be stuck on shitty upload speeds. there's 2 ways to keep your ratio: upload yourself and dont download everything, but instead only the shit that you're really interested in... simple as that

i am a nice guy and didnt look like it the way my last message came out.

i get what you mean tho as alot here are taking liberties.

anyway as for uploading stuff. well to be honest even if i was to upload an audio show, 99.9% of the members here would prob have it anyway. like i said my connection aint the greatest and it would take ages for others to be able to dl it from me, only chance i have is to seed what i dl, but even that aint solving it, seems by the time i have dl it so has every 1 else.

any tips would b great tho.

Too bad those "good manners" doesn't seem to include going out and actually recording the same amount of shows that are scarfed up...

Imagine what the trade pool could look like if you were expected to give back something fresh in return for every show that you take......

Or even ONE new and unique show for every 10 you took....

or just a measly ONE show per every 25 you took.....
