PAL To NTSC?
Could anybody shed light to this curiosity. I've noticed with a few of my trades that I receive that the picture will have slight pauses consistently throughout the entire disc. The audio is fine and the pic doesn't do this on my PC or little portable. I'm wondering if a show that is converted from PAL to NTSC might cause this since I'm thinking these shows (Rockaplast) may have been converted. A show that I converted is the only other one that has these video "stutters."
I am not too "techy" and I don't want to pass a problem along if they are indeed flawed. With verify on ImgBurb, I get no errors. Thanks for any enlightening feedback! No members have liked this post.

Re: PAL To NTSC?
the only time I've seen a slight pause is when a DL disc is switching layers.
you dont really have any specific info in that post to work with. i dont believe it was an encoding issue - as they have more a vid/aud sync issue. -not to mention that re-encoded are not shared here & many in the thread would report such an issue. sorry buddy - its on your end. you can tell us more about the discs used, software used, player used - and we can shoot more arrows at the target. Re: PAL To NTSC?
I think I know the stutters you are talking about. I would think that a Rockpalast show should be in PAL. It is a German show, so most likely recorded over in Europe and they use PAL.

Re: PAL To NTSC?
I've seen that on some that were standalone recorded. The audio is fine but the pictures glitches every once in awhile.

Re: PAL To NTSC?
Are those glitches at every second or so? If yes, it looks like they 'converted' PAL to NSTC using the so-called 'IFOedit hack'.

Re: PAL To NTSC?
Thanks for the responses. Yes, I picked these trades up from a snail mail trade. My guess is that they were converted to NTSC from PAL. It's interesting on one disc the Rockaplast show does that little "stutter" every second throughout (it's like a frame sticks for a split second-the pic remains perfectly clear). However, on the same disc there is a bonus show from The Midnight Special that does not exhibit the problem.
Can there be problems for NTSC playback if the disc is converted from PAL? Thanks for taking the time for your thoughts! Brian No members have liked this post.

Re: PAL To NTSC?
I've had a few of this glitches when playing things in VLC. I still don't burn DVDs. I have dl'ed stuff from the best uploaders (rory g, vlad) and here and there one goes awry. I've even re downloaded one or two piece trying to fix that. It has been suggested to me once burnt they will play fine. So the things I've gotten were NOT converted and they were skippy. I have lots of other things to watch so I've left it be. No one has suggested I've polluted the dl's so I haven't had "the poison seed."
good luck.

Re: PAL To NTSC?
Thanks pawal and everyone else. Used Gspot and it looks like these discs are PAL. I'm suprised they actually play at all on my NTSC player. Must have some type of conversion but they still show 25 frames per second and PAL.
