The latest techno-idiot... me

I'm sure you have this listed in your archive... but I can't seem to find it, or an answer to it. I'm new to torrents and in general, I'm a techno-idiot. I am on a pc/WinXP Home, have 2wire gateway DSL, have BitTorrent, and I reconfigured my firewall & opened up my ports (6881-6999) correctly (I THINK!). With this done, I'm only getting a d/l rate of 1-4 kb/s, and so far a 0 u/l rate. I set my max upload rate to 3MB/s. Am I even sharing?

I have d/led a couple of video torrents of tv shows with a much faster rate (from other sites), so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. Can you help me, before I give myself brain damage from thumping my head against the computer desk?! heheh. Sorry to be a bother!

which BT client are you using?

how many seeds are there for the show yer d/ling? how many leeches/peers?

try setting yer u/l rate to approx. 80% the total u/l yer pipeline will allow...
