Upload failure due to database error
Due to the database error that plagued us tonight, one of my uploads failed. The system retains the torrent, though I cannot do anything with it or create a new thread.
Please remedy. No members have liked this post.

Workaround - alter one of the files (info text file, for example) slightly to change the hash and recreate the torrent with (also) slightly different name. That's what I'd try.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the system retains the torrent. I do understand we've been having some kind of server overload issues again lately or something at times, causing some temporary database errors, and it's far above my pay grade to fix that myself, but i understand that the team here is doing stuff to help it - fingers crossed we find some good solutions soon! But for now, I'm not sure what to do here without more details of what, where, etc. Did the post upload? What show is it? Please explain more clearly why you can't do anything with "it" and what happens if you create a new thread for something else... Thanks!

Torrent is in the database, the accompanying thread not due to the error. No members have liked this post.

Append the torrent name with a number or letter and re-upload, as far as I know we have no access to repair anything from the tracker end of things. I at least have no access to the tracker to remove or repair erroneous torrents on the tracker. It honestly doesn't happen as often as you would think with the database issues we have had of late. Its the only real fix at ours (I.E. admins) disposal. EHodgson No members have liked this post.

Re: Upload failure due to database error
Have you checked for these issues as well?
If you get a torrent upload error ("Upload of file failed" or being returned to this page), here are a couple things to look for: - your announce url may be incorrect. Open the torrent in a text editor and make sure the announce url above is listed near the top of the torrent file. There should be a number "56" in front of the announce url. Also, make sure it isn't truncated - it should not have any "..." in the middle of it! Correct: http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...r/announce.php Wrong: http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...r/announce.php - the file size is too big. Some torrent making applications make HUGE torrent files. Try using Azureus or uTorrent to make the torrent file. - the torrent is already on the tracker. The tracker looks at the torrent hash. To get by this, change your text file slightly and make a new torrent. Also, give the torrent file a slightly different name. EHodgson No members have liked this post.

Re: Upload failure due to database error
I am not doubting your torrenting prowess, but appending the torrent filename should bypass it being in the database. I will have to reach out to U2Lynne and see what can be done to correct this issue.
Give me and her some time to see what we can do. EHodgson The following members like this post: Audioarchivist

Re: Upload failure due to database error
Message I received from lynne
"Unfortunately, I am traveling and can’t delete the torrent from the tracker. What may work is to alter the torrent file. So, he can open his text file, add a space or line feed, save it, then create a new torrent file. I think the tracker will allow the new one then." So give that a try and see what happens.
