				CDR failure rates rant

I still burn everything to CDR so I can listen to them on my antique CD player.

the number of discs I have to burn lately to get one that will play in my CD players is averaging about 6 right now. I have a big and growing pile of failed burns.. [no - not my hardware - it's the fucking discs and I'm seeing the same complaint on audio geek forums] Anybody else who would like to moan about this too please do. FUCK SHIT PISS etc No members have liked this post.

What do you use for discs? I burn stuff to CD all the time too. I prefer Verbatim. Never use the discs with the paper labels on them. They suck.

I frequently get discs that will become unplayable after one play, or will appear to boot up but won't play. I also had a spool of Lightscribe [printable ]discs that became unplayable after one play. I think it's just lax quality control or maybe I need mouthwash No members have liked this post.

I'm having the same issue and I use Verbatim disc. This is just recently begun to happen. I also found it odd.

The best discs have always been Taiyo Yuden. More expensive...but not if you need to use 6 of the others to get one good one.

Have you tried a different CD player? Some old CD players were on the market before CD-Rs and don't always play properly. Remember when CD-Rs were blue on the bottom? Those ones always worked for me on just about any player, but when the cheap ass green bottom CDRs started to prevail, I noticed some of my old CD players did not like them, sometimes you couldn't get past a couple tracks before weird errors occurred.

Its rare that I burn CDs anymore, but the last few have worked no problem. Dollar store memorex and maxell product. No members have liked this post.

I had issues with Maxell DVDs, as a side issue, recently, where I'd been using hundreds in the previous years with out problem.
