Problems with Video shows...

i know TTD doesn't "encourage" VCD/SVCD, but i recently got a few rare S/VCD shows in a trade that aren't available in DVD format and i can't seem to get them to burn for viewing...already checked videohelp.com and tried a few methods but none worked [this is why i don't collect S/VCD anymore!!!] These are strictly for my viewing, i won't be trading em...anyone with experience in the S/VCD realm wanna help?

Problem #1:
labeled as a DivX4 .avi file...Won’t burn to VCD, SVCD, or DVD-Video [I use Nero6 for burning]…have tried a few methods of conversion that videohelp.com suggested, none of which worked…attached is a screenshot of the file info.

Problem #2:
I have a show labeled “Isis_-_Live_in_Hungary_svcd.mpg”. It won’t burn to SVCD or convert to DVD-Video either…when loaded into Nero's SVCD project an error window pops up with my OS info/CPU info/and a buch of comp jibberish to submit...when trying to open in VirtualDub for file info, an error “No video frames found in MPEG file” pops up…??????????? It plays fine on the computer [pretty sure it was shot in PAL format, could this be the issue?] How can I manipulate this mpeg file to burn for viewing? No file info avalable unfortunately.

Re: Problems with Video shows...

Well, the first one isnt' an S/VCD, it's a DivX video. I *think* you just burn it as a data CD. However, I've never burned one, so I'm not really sure (but, I have a couple and they just look like data CDs to me).

yeah, i tried converting it from DivX to mpeg using TMPGEnc, but that didn't work [i'm not totally sure on using TMPGEnc tho, just d/led it for this conversion]...

this is why i don't collect compressed video!!! too much hassle...if these weren't two of my favorite bands i'd just chalk it up to computer-only viewing but...

anyone with TMPGEnc nkowlege, or s/vcd in general?!?!

Wouldn't this render the quality completely horrible? Even if you convert from DivX to DVD it's a big loss.

quite possible...i am competely unfamiliar with compressed video codecs outside of DVD/mpeg2 compression...

i don't plan on trading these, so losing quality is not too much of a concern...just wanna be able to watch em on my entertainment system.

Re: Problems with Video shows...

You can also buy a DVD player now that will play those without conversion if you just burn them onto any old CD/DVD as data. Very cool. I have a JVC that does it and it's great. You don't lose any quality of a DivX file by converting it.

Arf!

TTD and most others use BitTorrent for online trading...here's a few links to read that'll help explain:

http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...faq=bittorrent [BT]
http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/faq.php? [general FAQ stuff]

once you have a BT client installed and set up, you'll click on the *.torrent file that's at the bottom of a show's first post [Audio Bit Torrent Downloads/Video Bit Torrent Downloads forums]
