recovering data from an SD card?

we shrunk the image size of a couple pics in photoshop for posting on the net, not realizing that we were editing the files on the SD card and not a copy of the files on the harddrive...we then saved, which overwrote the origs on the card

is there any way of recovering the original uncompressed files?

Re: recovering data from an SD card?

I don't think so. If it was deleted that's not a problem. It just deletes the path to where the info is and can be recovered by re-associating the path. If it was overwritten the computer went to the spot the path led to and over wrote it. Often times you can edit > undo this if the computer hasn't been turned off or the program. If it has, I think it's gone. Is it possible that the editing program you were using has an autosave feature? maybe it was up a long time on the screen and you can retrieve that. What program were you using.

Re: recovering data from an SD card?

she used photoshop to edit the pic, but the program/comp has been shutdown/restarted since then... a deleted file i knew wouldn't be a problem to recover, but an overwrite i'm pretty sure is final...thought i'd ask tho

It doesn't look like Photoshop has an autosave feature. That would more than likely brought back your previous version. looks like you're out of luck.

You can try MediaRecover. I have used it with good results. There is a demo version that you can try. It will show you what it can recover, but the pictures will be in thumbnails. If it works, the full version is $20.
