I don't know squat about torrents and seeding (whatever that is!) and all this jazz, but I really need to get a hold of this one show on video. Are there any how-to posts on the basics of downloading stuff from this site?

You should try to keep your torrent 'on' until you reach a 1:1 ratio (upload to download). A ratio of one or better is a good ratio.
