The spectral for this particular source seems to hard limit at around 19kHz...
I wonder is this due to the limitation of this mic..... or is it lossy...

Hi-MD decks are also capable of recording and playback in using ATRAC codec (lossy) like old MD recorders, so that's what this looks like from what I can see in the blurry pic. could you upload another pic zoomed to 2 seconds but not shrunk & in preferably gif/png? also check here (http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=8003) for known ATRAC SA screenshots for comparison. Info about this Hi-MD deck available over here (http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-NH900.html).

either somebody made a mistake in their settings or perhaps they wanted to fit a full concert on one disc or something. :headbang2

looks just like ATRAC3plus Hi-SP (256kbit/s)

most ppl would accept this in a trade since its ATRAC (aud, right?) but imo it is just wrong to record lossy on a Hi-MD deck :disbelief

This is actually off a Muse torrent that I grabbed from here:

thanks for posting over there. could I get you to also generate the required ffp/st5 fingerprints for that show? its that guy's 1st post, I think he's still learning the ropes. Hopefully we can make friends with him and get him to change the recording quality setting in his deck.

here's what I was going to post before I saw that you beat me to it
just wanted to warn everybody that this is lossy, appears to be ATRAC3plus Hi-SP (256kbit/s). very unfortunate that the full quality LPCM WAV was not used here.

more details available here (http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=32282).

I won't ban this one for being lossy since ATRAC AUD recordings are traditionally allowed to be traded, however I feel strongly that when a Hi-MD deck is used for recording, it should be used in teh highest quality setting (LPCM WAV 16Bit/44.1kHz).

could somebody please generate & post the required ffp in this thread (instructions in my signature below).

This is the ffp file I've generated. How would an ffp file be useful here?

for comparison when there are multiple copies of the same show in circulation. also, it can be used to verify that a conversion from SHN was done perfectly.

there's several shows I've downloaded multiple times since the announce text was different and it turned out to be a waste of time since the ffp (and therefore the audio) was identical but checksums weren't available for me in the thread.

it is just wrong to record lossy on a Hi-MD deck :disbeliefNot when your recorder develops a tendency to generate disc errors on PCM recordings, that in one case lead to an entire set being lost :(

okay, that could explain it then

its gotta be hard to go back to Atrac after recording 16/44.1 wav audio
