I suspect this method is lossy, but best to make sure.

If I download a lossless DVD in PAL format, which I cannot view on my player, then rip it to a single VOB with Decrypter, and encode it with Canopus and convert the framerate to 23.97 fps with 3:2 pulldownl, is the resulting DVD lossy or lossless?

I imagine it would be lossy, unless I decompressed the VOB file?

Thanks in advance.

converting the framerate requires a re-encode

we require that ppl seed in the original format & recommend you get a new dvd player that can play pal/ntsc. only $25, no more worries.

I do seed in original format, but like to convert PAL to NTSC for my personal use.

Thanks for clarifying that converting the framerate is not acceptable.

The DVD players I have found in Canada that play both formats are cheap Chinese models. I know there is a wider selection in the US.
