SSIA, I guess.
These are from an (outdoors) audience recording made in 2000.

Since posting this I've made some more screenshots of the same show using Cool Edit Pro.

looks like md to me

would it be possible for you to post a b&w sa zoomed to about 2 seconds in cep?

Cool Edit pro 2.00
options > settings >

"colors" tab > "spectral" tab
Spectral High energy: black (highlight > change color)
Spectral Low Energy: white

Gamma: 0.4

Thanks 5, btw is it best to always use these b&w settings for sa?
This is the lineage I have, so far:
Audience recording > ? > Trade CDR > EAC (Secure) > WAV
If it is MD would the correct lineage be:
Audience recording > MD > ? > Trade CDR > EAC (Secure) > WAV

Rather than start a second thread, I hope it's alright to post another similar screenshot from the same artist (Dylan) from a show the previous day. Both not MP3, I think.

Sorry, I'm making a mess of this. Luckily the screenshots show the date of the shows. Here is the b & w that corresponds to the first set of images I posted.

Sorry again. I just figured out my mistake w/ the CEP settings. I can post the images again but I think these might be good enough.

While I've got the floor, which is the best file type for these screenshots? I read in one of the other threads that PNG is best.

everything you've posted there is md-sourced. it is most probably (98%) recorded direct to md by the audience taper. everything you've posted there shows MD "lego parapet" artifacts... which indicates ATRAC DSP Type-R SP or a close cousin.

as for lineage I would put:

Audience MD recording > MD(m) > ?unknown transfer > CDR(x) > EAC (Secure) > WAV > FLAC

if its flac

I would also mention that the MD source was spotted using SA and that it is most likely taped to MD by the original taper, altho that knowledge is an educated guess as you didn't recieve lineage with it.

Thank you very much for your help. Hopefully I will be able to make it on my own from here on. I've already spotted several MP3s in my collection. I had no idea they were so insidious. Of course if I spot any curly ones I'll let you know.

Didn't take me long to get confused again. Can I try a couple more examples, please? :hmm:

It is best to always use the b&w settings for sa, right?
Is hbfa and hbsa another MD?
And what is the black line at 16000Hz in 1990sa? Sorry, the vertical scale is cut from the image but I think you'll get the idea.
