View Full Version : Normal for a master?
I downloaded a torrent from Dime, where the lineage was:
source = my master>optical out >standalone cdr >eac >flac 8
But looking at the spectral view, not sure what to think. I don't think that's normal for a master (maybe it has something to do with 'optical out'>'standalone cdr'?? I'm not sure what those are :) ) but looking at the top there and how black it is (and when you zoom in, you can see "blocks")....... looks lossy of some nature...
Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks!

thatīs minidisk (atrac).
^what he said
nice direct digital transfer, too
MD when its from the master recorded at a show (not a broadcast) is about the only lossy that's largely accepted by traders.

I'm not sure but a bootleg I received looks similiar. I'd be eternally grateful if somebody could tell me if it's MD sourced or not. :)

I hate to break it to you, but that looks more like .mp3 to me.
I wasn't so impressed by the spectral views, but I'm pretty sure that frequency analysis gives it away.
But make sure you get some second opinions.

Those pics actually do show strong md-ish characteristics, however the whole thing looks rather weird (low-bitrate?) to me.
I'm sure I've seen this kind of spectrum on an md source before, now if I could only remember where... :hmm:
