Search engine flaw

I just came on to look at how my Gun Club Tube 1984 set was doing. Entered the band name into the search engine hit search & got told that 'gun' was too short or too common a word for search requirement. i haven't seen what else this applies to but it strikes me as a bit shite. Is there any way around this?
I mean does that not render the band unfindable since it's only going to look for 'club' & that's if anything a far more common word.
Or do quotation marks help?

Re: Search engine flaw

hmm... well, if you use advanced search titles only in the video section for "club" your show comes up at the top of the list
http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...archid=2925345

searching two and three-letter words takes a lot of resources from the site and an exception could be made for "gun" but I'm not sure if that would really help the search. its like trying to find shows by the band "yes" or "the who" its tricky.

yeah... if Daltrey/Townshend and Co. had forseen the Google generation, they might never have called themselves The Who.

that used to frustrate the hell out of me.

I'll add that to the allowed words.

Re: Search engine flaw

Led, from Led Zeppelin, if you want to get accurate results untainted by any other band, just a suggestion though, it's alright how it is now.

Re: Search engine flaw

Actually, I just removed it because for some reason, now if you search on "Led Zeppelin" (no quotes) you get no results. That makes no sense to me, but once I removed "Led" from the list, all was fine.

Makes me feel quite strange that for about 2 hours I kinda blocked a band from being searched, apologies to all affected!

Weird......, hope you get around it

Re: Search engine flaw

Yeah, it was odd. Someone wrote to me about it and I was thinking they must have spelled Zeppelin wrong or something, but then I tried it and realized they were right. It doesn't really make any sense to me though.

Re: Search engine flaw

Is there a good reason why one has to wait 20 seconds between searches?

At times I run a search and based on the search results wish to run another/finetune the search but get the 20 second message.

Re: Search engine flaw

I think I can loosen that up to 10 seconds and it shouldn't hurt the site. Will that be OK?
