DVD Player Recommendations?

Hi all;

Can anyone recommend a DVD player that plays NTSC and PAL format DVD's? Hopefully this will be a player that has digital audio outs, component video outs, and has a reasonable cost. It would be amazingly cool if it would be HDTV ready (for the future), but thats only a bonus.

Is seems that the DVD players I find that are PAL/NTSC compatible cost a huge amount more, and that just does not seem right to me. Surely everyone in Europe is not paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars just to get a DVD player......

Re: DVD Player Recommendations?

almost all of the cheap no-name DVD players at WalMart or KMart will play both NTSC & PAL...a few of the names off the top of my head are Apex, Durabrand, CyberHome, etc...

i recently picked up a Durabrand for $29, and it'll play anything, including data discs...has both component and digi outs i'm pretty sure

A simple hack will make this player region free also. Great player, great price.

I own this player and it plays everything I give it except QPAL(?). Worth every penny.

Re: DVD Player Recommendations?

Thanks for all the info and replies.

After looking at several different players, I thought "What the hell?" and burned 10-16-81 Milk Weg (PAL) to disk and popped it in the old trusty Apex AD-5131 and it played perfectly!!! This player is definitely a keeper in my book
