Re: Port forwarding / firewall

OK, so have you forwarded your ports through the XP firewall? or do you just have it disabled?

I've heard of AVG, but I'm on a Mac, so I don't use it. However, I would imagine that you have to either OK certain ports with it or you have to OK your bittorrent application. Have you done either of those?

Re: Port forwarding / firewall

Well then, everything is fine for you if you aren't firewalled. And, I just looked at the Live show you are downloading and it says you are fine also. So, you don't need to do anything.

Re: Port forwarding / firewall

I'm going to highjack this thread too.

I've set up portforwarding in my router and windows firewall and I'm still coming up red. I even tried turning the firewall off and it still comes up red.

OS = XP
Router = SMC WBR14-G
Anti-Virus = Symantec
Client = BitLord 1.1

Re: Port forwarding / firewall

OK, upon looking into this a little bit further I found that both DIME and TTD verify ports using the same method. The only difference is they have there timeout interval set lower than ours.

I've made a couple of changes to the software to *hopefully* help out with the problem of not getting credit. One thing that does help is to login to the site *prior* to starting any torrents. This makes sure that the database knows who you are and what your IP address is prior to you starting your torrent so that when you do start your torrent, the tracker already knows who you are. Let me know if that helps out at all.
