Question Trying to Port Forward but can't access router login page. Help?

Hey everyone. I'm a new user and am trying to get rid of my firewall so I can give as much as I take. I've looked at the links provided in the FAQ to try and port forward, but I can't access the router login site when I try to put the router IP in the address bar. Other vaguely pertinent info:

- I'm using a MacBook Pro

- My torrent client is Vuze

- I am using a Netgear router

Can anyone help me out?

Re: Trying to Port Forward but can't access router login page. Help?

Thanks for the links, but they unfortunately didn't help much. So I'll delve a bit more into the specifics of the problem. When I type in the router's IP address, it attempts to connect for a while before presenting the usual "Problem loading page" screen. Which is apparently due to the connection timing out, despite the fact that my internet works fine otherwise.
But when I try to put in the "routerlogin.net" address that appears on the side of the router, a similar page comes up from Cox Communications (our local cable/internet supplier) saying the site couldn't be found. Which is peculiar as a "site can't be found" page rarely comes from Cox.

Any ideas?

Even though you can't access the router login, do other pages still load? http://192.168.1.1 is typically the default address for most routers. Are you attempting to connect wireless or with a cable?

Re: Trying to Port Forward but can't access router login page. Help?

I'm attempting to connect wirelessly, so maybe connecting to a cable might help things. The page you linked to didn't work, though the fact that my router # ends in .0.1 instead of .1.1 may or may not influence things.
But outside of that and the things I stated above my internet works like normal, if that's what you're asking about.
My primary internet platform is Firefox, and I've tested everything on that and Safari, with nothing working for either one. I've never used Chrome, but I'd be willing to give it a shot if it might help things.

Try connecting with a wire and see if that helps first. If it does, then there is a wireless communication issue between your Macbook and the router.
