Creating Root menu for a DVD

Can someone please give me the simplest instructions on how to set up a Root Menu on a DVD? I've recently downloaded a Rush DVD that has a root menu as one of the files, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to take that Root Menu and set it up in a way that when I insert the disc into a player that it will show me that menu and allow me navigation from it and back to it like a conventional DVD.

All I've been able to do is make it into a chapter, which isn't what I want. I figured out how to set up the chapters themselves, but I am totally stumped on getting this menu set up so it will allow navigation.

I'm using Nero Express 7, if that helps. I've spent the better part of 2 days like this ---> and , so if someone can tell me what I'm not doing and point me in the right direction, I'd be this -->

Re: Creating Root menu for a DVD

If you downloaded authored show then don't use this Nero Express crap but burn it with Nero Burning ROM, choosing DVD-Video compilation - it just burns a DVD as it is without re-encoding/re-authoring.

Root menu may not be defined as a "first play", then DVD starts with movie. If so, then press on your player or remote control button 'menu'. However, if Express made reauthoring then the original menu(s) is(are) lost.

The above link is to tutorial for a different program, so useless.

Re: Creating Root menu for a DVD

It sounds like you are trying to use Nero Vision Express which is a DVD authoring program. This is what you use to make menus, etc. This is not a burning program. You should be using Nero express or Nero burning rom they do the exact same thing.
