Re: where can i dL a good, FREE VOB converter?

Yes see, I think the "program" (nero, etc) is what I am missing. I dl at work, and usually convert my shn & flac to wav's, and then burn them with a program called Roxio. And then delete them so I don't get busted.
So... I should get some sort of dvd burning program? Also, what do I do with mpeg's?

ps- I should also mention that I just started this friday of last week. So very n00b.

Re: where can i dL a good, FREE VOB converter?

there are probably freeware DVD burning progs, maybe some others will chime in...i stick with Nero, which'll do all yer burning [audio and DVD] for around $70 [US] if i remember correctly.

Depending on what Roxio package you have at work, it might burn DVDs too...

That player you suggested is very nice, I can watch them with that at least if I can't find a burning program. I'll do somemore fishing tomorrow.

Re: where can i dL a good, FREE VOB converter?

I got the VLC player but I can't watch the files. It says that it is not a valid Win32 application. Does anyone know why this is?

Are you just trying to play them on your computer?

http://www.videolan.org/

VLC will do the trick.

Question Re: how to play VTS. vob files?

I have dvd software to play dvd's as well as software to burn them. The Problem I am having is, I downloaded a the woodstock set for Blind Melon from this site, for some reason, when I try to play the files, VTS.VOB, none of my media players support the file. If I can't play them, I definitly can't burn them. Not sure what to do, am I suppose to change the format of the file as I would with audio files? help, please?

Re: where can i dL a good, FREE VOB converter?

What's the best way to transfer dvd files from one computer (w/out dvd burner) to another computer (w/ dvd burner)?

The files are so big I can't just burn a data disc but my friend has a dvd burner and I wanted to transfer so I could have a copy

Re: how to play VTS. vob files?

a DVD fileset consists of .ifo, .bup, & .vob files -- this is the standard file structure for a DVD, nothing needs to be converted...

Power DVD should play the show:
click the "Select Source" button on the power dvd interface > Open media files...the playlist window will open...browse to the show's Video_TS folder on yer HD, select all of the DVD files [.ifo, .bup, & .vob files] > click Add > click OK...

as far as i know, winamp & wmp don't play dvd files.

Re: how to play VTS. vob files?

Did you try VLC? I don't have much experience with that one but I know it's supposed to be good

if all else fails, download Media Player Classic. It will play anything you throw at it and it couldn't be easier to use. Just click File>open> navigate to your desired VOB file, BAM!

It's very easy to get an external IEEE1394 or USB harddrive to transfer the files.... probably easier than networking the comps.

If you network them, then they see each other in Network Neighborhood.

It's slow, but you could get a 2 GB Smart Media or Compact Flash, or SD Card
and copy the VOBs if both comps have card readers.

Good luck, nibs.
