VHS TAPES: PAL AND NTSC FORMATS?

hello, i posted a pearl jam video from holland last nite from a VHS tape i converted to dvd IN NTSC FORMAT. should i have transferred it to dvd in PAL FORMAT even from a audience video tape recorded back in 1992? im in america..did camcorders in 1992 even have PAL AND NTSC format? was it pulled just because i didnt explain why its in NTSC format? i emailed a mod but havent gotten a response as of yet..thanks for ur opinion..scott libin

As you pointed out you did convert it from it's native format NTSC to PAL

if your in the US why didn't you leave it as NTSC in the conversion to digital?

a bit confusing, which is probably why it was pulled

was the source VHS tape you transferred from in NTSC or PAL? if the tape was in NTSC, and you authored in NTSC, then i don't see a problem...if the tape was PAL and you authored to NTSC, then it wouldn't be allowed here at TTD

i dont know what the format on the vhs tape is..its not listed....i didnt convert pal to ntsc..just made a dvd from the tape i had

i'd *assume* if yer in the US, and used a US-purchased VCR to transfer, that the tape was in NTSC [most American VCR decks won't play PAL format tapes]

but there's a lot of assuming, since you don't know for sure...i'd say just upload the show at another site that has less stringent rules than we do
