I found this EXTREMELY USEFUL gem on this topic which helped me IMMEASUREABLY...

A lesson in DVD ripping/burning for Macs using Toast. So far, it seems that using the "Data > DVD-ROM (UDF)" function on Toast 7 is a useable work-around the encryption problem.

How Do I Burn/Watch the DVD Newbie Content!

I just got done downloading the Island Tour Dvd 4/5/98:
http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...ead.php?t=5796
And I don't know how to watch it or burn it . I am new to this whole dvd thing, so I may need to download a program or something. I have dvdshrink installed for my dvd backup uses, and the newest Nero, but I am confused. I tried searching the FAQ's to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: How Do I Burn/Watch the DVD Newbie Content!

we gotta add in the .st5 stuff but other than that I believe its 98% there.

I still don't have a net connection at home for a few more days. I'd just like to add that bit then we can post it and let the members help iron it out wherever necessary.

Re: nero express 6 help<<<

Select the drive in the upper right - If you're burning DVD's, make sure that [DVD] is in the brackets.

You're looking for "DVD-Video Files" under the What would you like to burn heading. Drag/select the Video_TS folder of the show you want into the window.

Burn.

Re: nero express 6 help<<<

whenever i try to drag the folder, it starts to add the files, then during the process of adding the files a box will appear and tell me that "the disc is full. error importing video segment. file cannot be inserted." what do i do next?

Re: nero express 6 help<<<

I'm at work so I don't have the program in front of me - BUT - the only thing I can think of is that you're trying to drag more then the DVD disc can hold. Even if that's the case, I don't recognize the error - I've been able to drag more then 4.7 Gigs into the window and not get the error. I get the error when I try to burn the disc - it stops me right away and says the DVD is too small.

How much are you trying to burn onto one disc? Are you doing dual layer?

For what it's worth....Nero Express is not very good. I myself got it when I bought my burner but after a couple of weeks of frustration, went out and bought the full version of Nero. It's expensive, but well worth it.

Another thing that just occurred to me...is your hard drive full (or nearly) perhaps? Burning programs need a sort of swap file to be able to burn from...maybe your hard drive is too full. If you're hard drive is full, clear up some room, defrag and try again.

Maybe Aaron will have some insight. I just need some more coffee...

on the box that came with the dvd burner, it says dual layer. now i do not know if there is a setting to activate it, i just assumed that it was already set. as far as the size of the files that i am trying to burn, they should fit.
