Re: DVD Burner Advice...

PLEXTOR are the BEST - no questions no if and or buts about it.

Then Sony or Pioneer - other companies label PLEXTOR drives as there own

I would buy a DUAL LAYER capable burner - dual layer discs are still pretty pricey but have been coming down in the last few months and will probably drop further after the 1st of the year. Now DUAL LAYER disc's are in the 2-5 dollar apiece range - SINGLE LAYER disc's (good ones) are 20 -30 cents each in bulk.

Check this link out for BEST MEDIA to buy:

Good luck and have fun!! REMEBER PLEXTOR = BEST......PERIOD

ONE other thing find bargains on these drives at:

dealnews.com or surpluscomputers.com

Re: DVD Burner Advice...

I have a Sony DVD RW DRU-710A. The new model is the 810A. They're $99 a Best Buy. I don't think you could go wrong with this drive. I have never had a single problem with the 710A. I've had it a little over a year.

The comparable Plextor model is the PX-740A. It's also $99 at Best Buy.

Links to each drive are below.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that is debatable, as Plextor drives do have some drawbacks.

Benq makes some drives that are comporable (if not better in some cases), and you can find them a better prices.

Re: DVD Burner Advice...

I have a pioneer dual-layer compatable it is great but EAC doesn't like it

I've had very good experiences with LG (and EAC can burn with it)

somebody told me that NEC has the best consumer ratings but I couldn't verify that from experience.
