Beginners Question?

Hey all, forgive me if this is being posted in the wrong forum
I was just wondering, im new to the whole downloading shows thing
i currently have a Roxio Cd Burner and ive only been able to dl shows off archive in mp3 form, how would i go about DL torrents and stuff off etree and such, in like flac or shn form.
any help would be appreciated
