What software should I download to play SHN extensions

Hi there

I have not come across this format before I usually download FLAC files. Can anyone help with what software I should download so that I can these files.

Kind Regards, Graham

I'm on a Mac and use the same software to play both shn and flac files (cog). I think on a PC you can use the same software also (foobar2000 comes to mind) but you may need to make sure you have the shn plugin installed.

Re: What software should I download to play SHN extensions

You can play SHN files directly from Windows Media Player if you install a DirectShow filter.
There used to be a download available from http://www.rit.edu/~cxp6014/ but the site seems to be down at the moment.
Using the 'Way Back Machine' I was able to find a cache of the site and the installer can be downloaded from here:
http://web.archive.org/web/200503090....edu/~cxp6014/

I downloaded it last night and works great with Windows Media Player 11.

Thanks for the archive.org tip. I was wasting a lot of time trying to find this. I am using 32-bit Vista (with Windows Media Player 11) and it works perfectly.

I would just convert to flac, as shn is not seekable.

Older versions of shn were not seekable, but that changed years ago and it is possible to seek through those older shn files by either appending seek tables, or using external seek table files (with .skt extension).

mplayer FTW across multiple platforms.
