What to do with all those plastic CDR spindle things???

Hey everyone, I was just thinking about what I should do with all the CDR/DVD spindles that they come on. Didn't know if anyone had any artistic or creative uses for them. I've been trying to think of some but have had no luck. I put most of my burned discs into binders, so I have alot of these things and hate to throw them away. Thanks!!!!!!

I use them for computer backups. I number them and throw them on the spindle. I've never had to use one, knock on wood, but I am backed up.

I'm talking about the actual spindle. I put most of my discs in album binders and have a ton of the plastic holders.

You could put data discs on them (SHN, FLAC, etc.) and just use binders for audio CD's and DVD's.

Re: What to do with all those plastic CDR spindle things???

I've got the perfect solution for you. Stop buying your media on spindles...order the stuff that comes in tape wrap instead. You unwrap the blanks and put them on your old spindle. I've got two 100-capacity cake boxes that originally came with some Taiyos and I just reuse them (one for blank CDs, one for DVDs). As long as you don't open the tape wrap, it is perfectly fine to store the discs that way if you're out of empty spindles to put them in.

I'm certain there are other solutions besides reusing them, but I'll leave them to the imagination. Worst comes to worst, maybe you can recycle them.

Maybe you can find someone with an artistic flair for the dramatic, and you can provide them with their new sculpture materials...

Maybe some sort of leaning tower of bootleg data??

Just check out the recycling option, if you've really no need for them.

Nail a hole in the very top of the actual spindle and use it for an incense burner.

place a couple spindles on the floor
cut the top cylinder cover into rings

If you want to make the game of ring toss really hard, use "coasters" instead of cut up spindle cover. Yet another use for the ubiquitous coaster.

Actually on second thought, maybe the person could leave the spindle cover intact, glue the base of the spindle to the top of the cover, then use the pointy bit of the spindle to stake it into the ground. Play "coaster golf" in the convenience of your own backyard...try to toss your coaster frisbees into the baskets created by the upside down cover shells.

this is a nice, civil thread.
No one has posted the obvious suggestion.
