disc discoloration an issue?

I recently bought this game (Tales of Vesperia) from Amazon and opened it up to find the underside of the disc discolored in parts.

here is a picture of the disc. It might be hard to see but the bottom and top right portion of the disc has a different color than the rest of the disc. I was wondering if this is something I should worry about or not? I haven't put the game in at all yet, but given that it's a 30hr game or so, I'd hate to have it work and then half way through it not. I wasn't sure if anybody else has seen this before or what because I haven't.

Thanks for any help and comments.

Re: disc discoloration an issue?

i think you should be all good, its probably just something that happened in the heating process of the discs, i also think that the 360 has a has better ablity to read faulty discs than say and average CD player

Re: disc discoloration an issue?

Thanks. I asked the game companies customer service about getting a replacement and they said I could only do that if I was having issues with the game itself. I guess I just can't bring myself to lie about having an issue when I really don't lol.

Re: disc discoloration an issue?

Disc decoloration is not always fun for sure. There are some CDs by EMI Germany from 1995 (I only had problems with that company and several CDs from that year) that started to decolor then had a frost pattern look and weren´t playable.

Funny enough same happened with some silver boots that were packed in DigiPaks in which a bad glue was used.

You wouldn´t have clicked this thread if you haven´t had that issue before, Vlad...

Re: disc discoloration an issue?

Mentionable enough that someone would expect such an issue discussed in Technobabble, not in the Lounge.

Re: disc discoloration an issue?

Some discs do 'rust' though - particularly the CD-Video ones made in the late 1980s. But then again, nobody will be able to play them anyway.

Re: disc discoloration an issue?

I've played it for about 3 hrs so far and works fine. I was worried in time though that it wouldn't. But I guess with the way they make cds and such now, it's not as big of an issue?
