Is re-authoring "sabotaged" DVDs allowed?

Since I wasn't completely clear on this based on the rules:

While it says that DVDs posted here should not be modified except to add chapter marks and a menu to a DVD made on a standalone recorder, what about DVDs that were sabotaged by dubbing a small amount of commercially released music over at the beginning and end of the concerts and adding movie footage to the end of each disc (you probably know what taper I'm talking about) to keep them from being posted here and at Dime? Can their discs be re-authored (as long as there's no re-encoding) to remove the offending content and posted here as an exception to the policy against modification or does the modification rule have no exceptions aside from the aforementioned one about adding menus and chapter marks to SA DVDs?

Thanks!

Re: Is re-authoring "sabotaged" DVDs allowed?

So here, official material only refers to the video presentation itself, and thus a small amount of officially released audio dubbed in for the intro/outro plus the movie clip are considered kosher here? Is that what you're saying? I had interpreted as it being anything officially released being barred from inclusion.

In more plain English, I interpret your post as saying:

Posting an officially released videotape/DVD/album is not allowed.
Posting an audience shot DVD that includes a small amount of officially released audio/video is allowed.

For what it's worth, in their stupid slate telling people that they inserted the movie clips to prevent trading, they specifically mention this site and Dime so that caused some confusion.

We're a little looser than DIME.

Re: Is re-authoring "sabotaged" DVDs allowed?

We do not worry about little bits of added commercial audio/video. I know dime has (had?) a policy where they wouldn't even allow the tiniest bit of officially released music to be included in the torrent (like the stuff over the loudspeaker before a show begins), but we have always allowed this.

I don't know who you are talking about, but Joe seems to know, and if he says it's OK, then it's OK.
