Why does Toast sometimes...

change my VIDEO_TS.BUP and VIDEO_TS.IFO file?

This has only happened about 3 times, but it just happened with Phish 2.18.97 disc 1. I burned it as I normally do DVD-ROM(UDF), and when I make an md5 of the burned files, the md5s of those files are different than the md5s of the downloaded ones. Does anyone know why this happens and if there's anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks!
-Graham

ps I'm using Toast Titanium if that makes any difference.

Re: Why does Toast sometimes...

Given that the big beasts (Nero & Toast) both sometimes make these changes, might it not be sensible for people to make a separate md5 of the VOBs as well as one of the entire contents of the VIDEO_TS folder ? Any differences in BUPs and IFOs are likely to be imperceptible but would prevent verification/comparison in much the same way as changing tags does with an audio files/wholefile md5 set.

Edit: forget it...talking bollocks as usual :-)

Re: Why does Toast sometimes...

no wait... you just might be onto something.

Nero often does this just like toast. It happens when you burn as a "video dvd".

but the vobs remain the same.

there is a big thread which touches on this topic here:
