upload rate 0 kb/s, download at 2 kb/s??

Finally started downloading a show, but it is going very slow. I have read faq's on this site and on the recomended sites but can not figure out how to fix this. I turned off my firewall, have a green light, but something does not seem right.

Would really appreciate if someone out there could help out,
Thanks

especially curious why after over 1 1/2 hours I have not uploaded anything, it seems like my computer is not sharing or pulling its weight.

Thanks for the response. I think this is the link, copied the file and pasted it here. If not the show is mmw from 4/20/05 at liberty hall Lawrence, KS.

From what I can see there are 4 seeders and 2 leaches, but I could be wrong.

there are only 2 seeders, one is firewalled so you cant connect to him. So there is only one for you. The upload speed to you is VERY low. And you wont see your upload go anywere really until you have completed the torrent.

What connection are you on?

Re: upload rate 0 kb/s, download at 2 kb/s??

ok the red under that one seeder means he is firewalled, that makes sense.
So I guess your telling me that their needs to be a ratio of seeder to leach (if thats what I am concidered) higher than 1 to 1 to download a torrent quickly. Is that right.

Conection? For internet I have a dial up connection for now. No DSL or Cable service out here, waiting to get Directv internet.
I figured that dialup would take a while to get anywhere, but at this rate I will be on for days.

Also, I downloaded Bit Tornado, could that be an issue? Any settings I could adjust in that program to make it more efficient>

Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Re: upload rate 0 kb/s, download at 2 kb/s??

There are so many factors that go into your speed on a torrent. It sounds to me like the biggest factor for you is that you are on dialup. That is only 56 kb/s (this is in bits, not Bytes) which would mean a 950 MB torrent would take 950000 KB * 8 (to convert to bits) * 1/56 (to figure out how many seconds) * 1/3600 (to get it into hours) = 38 hours approximately. And, that is if you aren't using your bandwidth for anything but downloading that torrent (meaning, not upload at all). If you are uploading at all, then that time will increase.

As for why no one is uploading from you, perhaps either you are using all your bandwidth for downloading and you aren't leaving anything left for uploading or your are uploading at such a small rate that no one is bothering to get the pieces from you.

There you go. There really isnt anything you can do to improve your speeds, besides upgrading to dsl or cable, or T1 if you want to get fanshy shmanshy.
