Re: What are leechers?

A leecher is someone who wants to download the show. As compared to a seeder who has already downloaded the show and is currently sharing it with the leechers. You would get rid of the leechers by seeding the shows to them.

You may want to read over the stuff in this section of the FAQ - BitTorrent Help

Thanks for your help but I don't understand.
I guess because I don't know how to seed yet.
Is that right?

Re: What are leechers?

You seed by continuing to stay connected to a torrent after your are done downloading it and then you will be sharing your copy of the show with others.

"You seed by continuing to stay connected to a torrent after your are done downloading it and then you will be sharing your copy of the show with others".

The last thing I want to do is to do something that is not exceptable to TTD.
I been shareing the music by cds along time.

To Explain what I have done:
I download the music on my computer to My Documents then thru uTorrents and when its finished seeding I convert from Flac and then burn a cd.It is still on my computer and now I'm in the stage of going to learn how to upload to give back thru up loading.
Tell me if I'm on the right track.

I appreciate your time.
I'm a old road muscian caughting up with technogy.
Thanks,
Clark

Re: What are leechers?

when you start to download, you are a leecher. when the download finishes you become a seeder. but, you are uploading the whole time, even when you are still downloading(leeching). you just become a "seeder" when it's done downloading. just leave utorrent running and you will continue to seed(upload) the show to other people when you are done downloading(leeching).

Re: What are leechers?

Thanks Ghostwheel,
I'm starting to understand.
The reason I ask is to clearup are understand what I'm suppose to do with This:

I seen this!
Under (Your seeding opportunity)

These are torrents you have downloaded, or you originally seeded, that currently have leechers and then
on the next page under no seeders its says . These are torrents you have downloaded, or you originally seeded, that currently have no seeders. They are dying... boo hoo!
They are dying... boo hoo!

And then there is a list of my downloads under each page.Which leads me to believe I'm supposed to do something with them.
Thanks for your help,
Clark

Re: What are leechers?

that just means that the torrent will become inactive if nobody continues to seed(upload) it. you don't HAVE to do anything about it, if you don't want to.

Is there any reason why I would want to do something?
Thanks

Re: What are leechers?

one seeds a show while downloading it IF there are other leechers on that show...once one is done downloading the show one can leave the show in their downloading app (client) and seed some more IF there are other leechers. Get on a show early enough to help out..one need not upload anything to share but it is nice to get new things into circulation. I do not upload shows here (so confusing to me) but I do send them out to others to do so...the terms can get weird for sure but I for one appreciate your desire to share more.

if other people are still downloading the show, it will help increase your share ratio. it will also prevent the torrent from becoming inactive.

Sure there is. Don't forget that in order for *you* to download the show, someone had to seed it for you. So, pay it forward and go share the show with someone else that wants it too.
