Looks like a lossy conversion which is not permitted here:

7. Audio ripped from an MPEG video or DVD is not permitted.
All digital video codecs use lossy audio compression schemes, and therefore audio extracted from an MPEG video or DVD is not permitted for seeding here. The exception to this rule is that DVDs which have been authored with uncompressed LPCM audio are allowed to have the audio stream extracted, compressed to a lossless format, and seeded. This rule does not apply to audio taken from VHS sources, which is permitted with the caveat that no cleaner or higher fidelity version circulates. Audio from VCD and SVCD sources is explicitly prohibited as it uses MPEG layer 2 compression, a less complex form of the shunned mp3 codec. Note that ac3 Dolby Digital audio is also lossy in comparison to the original uncompressed version, and is likewise prohibited for audio-only seeding at The Traders Den.

Re: Permitted?

As showtaper stated, if the audio had been LPCM, then it would probably have been fine, however the audio is lossy, so it isn't allowed here, sorry.

Re: Permitted?

I'm confused. Here's the same show, recorded and seeded by the same person, but the audio attributes are different (LPCM): http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...ad.php?t=80880

So, if I had used this source to create the torrent, it would be OK?

Thanks,
elinter

Re: Permitted?

I don't know of any satellite broadcasts that have PCM audio. That broadcast was probably converted from MP2 or AC3 into PCM.

This isn't the only one. I have seen more PCM's coming from satelitte or cable broadcasts.

no, it wouldn't

satellite and cable companies broadcast using some sorta "lossy" data compression on their streams...in regards to this particular torrent it looks like its 2-channel AC3

now just because someone captures the video and decides to author the audio stream as LPCM doesn't actually make it "lossless" [just a bloated file - it's like taking an mp3 and making it flac, yes its now flac but its still lossy]

we allow lossy compressions as part of a video [due to current broadcast standards, or lack thereof], but we do not allow lossy compressed audio in our audio forums...so neither audio would be allowed to be seeded, despite the fact that other torrent was authored using LPCM

[hope that answers yer question, early and i'm on my first cup of coffee]
