How to capture console games footage on TV?

Ive seen many people do this on youtube. They play a game on their console (ps3, xbox etc...) and then post a video on youtube with crystal clear quality. How can you do that? I tried using my VCR but it only records a blank screen, wont record what I am playing on my PS2. And I tried to record from screen using my digital camera but its no good, very shaky and bad sound

So I think they probably use some sort of a different hardware device which connects to the TV and saves data on DVD or something which can later be edited on the computer.

So my question is, how can I record my game footage on my ps2 from my TV? I want to record stunts I do in my racing games. What hardware should I buy cause I don't know a thing about this. Is it a video capture card, im not sure because thats only for pc. I need something for ps2

Put the PS2 into the VCR input and use the VCR to output it to the TV or better if you have a DVD or HDD Recorder use that. Also some TV's have a monitor out option that you could put into the input on the recording device. Hope that helps.
