Question ISP suggestions in the Los Angeles area?

Hi there

I'm looking for some advice on Internet Service Providers in the Los Angeles area.

I currently use AT&T DSL. The available upload speeds leave more than a little to be desired, and my share ratios suffer greatly due to this. I've heard various nightmare stories regarding certain ISPs and their policies on Peer To Peer sharing, and would obviously like to steer clear of a provider that doesn't allow this.

Can anyone offer suggestions based on their own experience? I would really appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Thank you.

I have AT&T. Check if U-verse is available in your area, I'm in the valley. I changed to the fiber optic for the same price as DSL $30 I get 3 up 10 down. And you can go faster for not much more. I do agree the DSL side is marginal at best. Very happy with the U-verse

Thanks! I'm in the Valley myself, but U-Verse isn't available to me unfortunately.

Thank you for your input though!

Before UVerse was available I tried for Verizon, but there is no overlap. The only other choice you might have is Time Warner, but they suck such huge donkey d*ick I don't know if it would be worth it. Keep checking with ATT when I got mine they told me that they plan on cutting copper wire connections all over.

What issues were you having with Time-Warner? They at least give you options for higher up speeds over the AT&T packages. Do they throttle P2P bandwidth? Bad service? Any other details would be appreciated.

Re: ISP suggestions in the Los Angeles area?

Every person that I know that has TW states the customer service is garbage, the overall service is garbage(outages, poor quality) and it's expensive. I used them years ago, and the price just kept going up on service that kept going down
